Abstract:Precast spandrel bridges with extracorporeal prestressing have become common in contemporary construction trends due to their advantages in terms of reduced girder web thickness and maintenance feasibility. Continuous girders can reduce the number of expansion joints and improve traffic conditions, but the intrinsic structural properties of these girders are difficult to analyze (especially in the limit state). In this study, the expansion and contraction characteristics of two types of continuous girders with in-vitro and composite stresses under asymmetric loading are examined and compared experimentally.
