Abstract:Since 1980, EMPA in Duneneneba Bendorf, Switzerland, BBR in Zurich Sversenbar, Ciba AG in Basel, and Stesalit AG in Zuville have been researching and developing carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) Parallel fiber bundles for cable stayed bridges and Suspension bridge. This fiber harness has excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, high strength and corresponding elastic modulus, as well as excellent fatigue resistance characteristics. The key issue facing the use of CFRP cables and their future promotion is how to anchor them. This describes a patented gradient anchoring method based on ceramics and epoxy resin. From 1995 to 1996, two large size CFRP stay cables were first used on Stoke Bridge in Winterthur, Switzerland. This bridge is a two lane cable-stayed bridge with a main span of 124 meters
