This paper summarizes the successful experience and failure lessons in the development process of large-span prestressed folded plate structure in China for more than twenty years, and discusses some important issues that should be paid attention to in the design of this kind of structure, such as the torsional loss of plate, the influence of wing plate width-thickness ratio on the plate's load carrying capacity, the reasons for the formation of folded plate longitudinal cracks, as well as the effect of the pre-stressed stress, etc., and puts forward the improvement of the design methods in principle, the production and the construction of the problems that should be paid attention to.
