Abstract:This paper describes the design of two 160m clear span steel-tube concrete arch bridges constructed by the transverse method on the Three Gorges Project's external transportation highway, the structural characteristics of the transverse structure, the monitoring and control of the whole construction process, the commissioning test, and the compression bar stabilization modeling test for the columns on the particularly slender arches. The paper describes the experience of participating in the practice of the two bridges and puts forward suggestions.
