    Abstract:

The structural form in which the prestressing tendons are placed outside the beam cross-section is called externally prestressed concrete (EPC). It has developed rapidly at home and abroad in recent years and is now widely used in building and bridge design and strengthening. This paper introduces the development status, structural characteristics, main theories and design methods of EPC, with a view to promoting its wider application.
