This article briefly reviews the understanding of permanent anchor cable protection in the anchor cable industry in China, and elaborates on the protection principles and methods of permanent anchor cables in response to the potential hazards they may encounter during long-term operation. It points out that some engineering design, construction, and certain anchor cable regulations are unreasonable, while also providing various standardized practices for permanent anchor cables. It is clearly pointed out that when anchor cables are used as permanent support, the type of anchor cable should be reasonably selected based on the specific environment of the project
